چکیده

Every convex polyhedron in the Euclidean space Rd admits both H-representation and V-representation. When working with convex polyhedra, in particular largescale ones in high dimensions, it is useful to have a canonical representation that is minimal and unique up to some elementary operations. Such a representation allows one to compare two H-polyhedra or two V-polyhedra efficiently. In this paper, we define such representations that are simple and can be computed in polynomial time. The key ingredients are redundancy removal for linear inequality systems and affine transformations of polyhedra.

Automata-Based Symbolic Representations of Polyhedra

This work describes a data structure, the Implicit Real-Vector Automaton (IRVA), suited for representing symbolically polyhedra, i.e., regions of n-dimensional space defined by finite Boolean combinations of linear inequalities. IRVA can represent exactly arbitrary convex and non-convex polyhedra, including features such as open and closed boundaries, unconnected parts, and non-manifold compone...

Lexico-smallest Representations, Duality and Matching Polyhedra

Every convex polyhedron in Rd admits both Hand V-representations. In both types, a representation is canonical if it is minimal and unique up to some elementary operations. In this paper, we show the duality of canonical representations and that the canonical V-representations coincide with certain canonical H-representations. Also, we show how the lexico-smallest representation, a computationa...

On the Representation of Timed Polyhedra

In this paper we investigate timed polyhedra, i.e. polyhedra which are finite unions of full dimensional simplices of a special kind. Such polyhedra form the basis of timing analysis and in particular of verification tools based on timed automata. We define a representation scheme for these polyhedra based on their extreme vertices, and show that this compact representation scheme is canonical ...

Modelling Decision Problems Via Birkhoff Polyhedra

A compact formulation of the set of tours neither in a graph nor its complement is presented and illustrates a general methodology proposed for constructing polyhedral models of decision problems based upon permutations, projection and lifting techniques. Directed Hamilton tours on n vertex graphs are interpreted as (n-1)- permutations. Sets of extrema of Birkhoff polyhedra are mapped to tours ...

Determining the Separation of Preprocessed Polyhedra - A Unified Approach

We show how (now familiar) hierarchical representations of (convex) polyhedra can be used to answer various separation queries e ciently (in a number of cases, optimally). Our emphasis is i) the uniform treatment of polyhedra separation problems, ii) the use of hierarchical representations of primitive objects to provide implicit representations of composite or transformed objects, and iii) app...
